131 mines, smelters, precious-metal refiners, ports and trading centres in 48 countries: copper in Chile, Peru, the Congo and Zambia, iron ore in the Pilbara, Brazil and Guinea, aluminium smelters from Iceland to the Gulf, nickel in Indonesia, gold and platinum in South Africa, and the London, New York, Shanghai, Zurich, Dubai and Mumbai bullion and metal markets.
Prices: World Bank Commodity Price Data (the Pink Sheet, CC BY 4.0), monthly averages for copper, aluminium, zinc, nickel, lead, tin, iron ore (62% Fe fines, CFR China), gold, silver and platinum, held in euros at the ECB monthly average rate and shown in euros, dollars, pounds, yen, yuan or reais. These are world benchmarks for refined metal, not prices paid at a mine. Available in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
Copper is grade A cathode (99.9935%), aluminium primary ingot (99.7%), zinc high grade (99.95%), nickel cathode (99.8%), lead refined (99.97%) and tin refined (99.85%), all as London Metal Exchange settlement prices averaged over the month. Iron ore is 62% Fe fines delivered to China (CFR), the benchmark of the seaborne ore trade. Gold, silver (99.9%) and platinum (99.95%) are the averages of each month's daily spot rates, per troy ounce.
The World Bank publishes the Pink Sheet early each month with the previous month's averages. GrainsMap checks for a new release every day, runs every price through its quality checks, and holds back anything that looks like a unit or data error rather than guessing a value. Each card shows the change on the month before and on a year earlier, and the three-year range.
Each site is coloured by its role: mines, smelters and refineries, precious-metal refiners, ports and warehouses, and the trading centres where the benchmark prices are made. Dashed lines show the main ore and metal trade routes, such as Pilbara and Brazilian iron ore to China or Chilean copper to Shanghai. Filter by metal or region, open a site for its benchmarks, or open the benchmark table to compare every metal at once. Market notes at the foot of the map summarise what is moving metals markets.
